Dear Smithfield Sportsman’s Club members,
It has been brought to my attention that the Smithfield Town Council will be entertaining a resolution for the Town of Smithfield to voice the Town’s opposition to the proposed RI Assault Weapons Ban of 2025 at their meeting on Tuesday June 3rd, 2025. Thirteen other cities and towns have already done so.
I want to let all members of the club, especially those that live in Smithfield know of this. If you believe that this is something the town should do, you should contact the members of the Town Council by email or phone and let them know of your support for such a resolution. (Their contact info is listed below)
Having members of the Smithfield community in attendance to show their support for such a resolution at the Town Council meeting on June 3rd would also greatly help the resolutions chance of being passed by the Town Council. If you live in Smithfield and believe the town should do this, please make an effort to attend the Town Council meeting on June 3rd.
Please note that I am not requiring/asking/demanding/coercing any member of the club to do this! I am strictly passing the information about the proposed resolution on to the membership, especially those that live in Smithfield, so you may act upon it as you see fit.
